QUESTIONS FOR IRISH DANCERS
1. How old were you when you started dancing?
3
2. How old were you when you went to your first feis?
I think I was 4
6. Ever switched schools?
I transferred from halloran to aisling when I was 10. At the age of 18 my dance teacher retired and moved overseas so my mum opened a school and now I dance there :)
7. Opinion on Lord of the Dance versus Riverdance?
Both shows are phenomenal and have done huge things for Irish dance!
16. Who do you look up to? Ciara Sexton, Nadine Martin, Nicole Zepcevski and Conor O’Sullivan are three people who I look up to and oh have inspired me to be my best!
17. What’s your favourite thing your teacher has said to you?
It’s more actions that I appreciate. When I came off stage from my set at the worlds my mum (my teacher) and quite a few of my friends and family in fact were in tears. I’ve never been so happy and excited to know that I did my absolute best and made them proud!

QUESTIONS FOR IRISH DANCERS

9. Favourite feis? North American Nationals
10. Feis you would never go to again? I don’t really have any!
11. Have you ever felt like you should quit or actually have quit? Yep most definitely. I had a really tough period in dance of like 2 years and when things got super tough I had a long hard think about quitting. I made the decision that I would do my first worlds for the experience and if I still wanted to quit after then I could. Thank goodness I didn’t!
12. Who/what is your biggest motivation? Who: my family, teachers, school, and my aunty and nanny. What: my love for dance, and the feelings that I have previously had in dance when doing well that make me want to achieve more

I’m not really too sure. We spoke online for a little bit and when we met it just clicked. We’ve been practically inseparable ever since!!

At one point did you realize you won the Worlds? I know Kevinah got the first two 100s, and yours were mixed in between the two Sineads.

When it came down to the final mark I had 2 100s, Kevinah had 2, and both Sineads had 1, so I knew if I got the last 100 I had won. But when I ran back to my mum she was like I don’t know whether you’ve got it or not so then I second guessed myself. I only really knew when they announced the totals :)

What irih dancers have you dated ????

you practice so much and for so long, on top of HOH etc! have you ever had any fatigue or stress-related injuries? I always seem to end up with shin splints at the minimum when leading up to a major and training every day :/ any tips for avoiding these kinds of injuries when you're dancing 3+ hours a day?

I was quite injured during heartbeat because I was dancing so often. It’s simply a matter of working out what best works for your body and sticking to it as well as listening to it. I did a lot of cross training / exercises to get myself physically stronger and fitter! Always make sure you cool down and warm up, stretch often and I also did ice baths after training and shows which really helps. Keep hydrated and eat the right foods too! Goodluck!

How many hours of practice/day would you say that you put in before worlds? obviously you had rehearsals etc too but I'm just curious! outside of HOH and normal practicing, did you do a ton of crosstraining?

Prior to worlds I practiced 5-6 days a week, usually doing 1.5-2 hours of practice and also then in between numbers in the show I would do full dances to get me even fitter. I also rode the bike, ran, did abs and also feet strengthening exercises :)

irishdanceblog: kevinah dargan! so adorable well done...

what do you think of other organisations in comparison to clrg? You're amazing by the way! :)

So I’m on my way to see my old dance teacher, who was like family to me before she retired and moved overseas. I haven’t seen her in a year and a half and I know all you Irish dancers will appreciate my excitement right now! 😃😄😍

In your opinion, who's one of the most under-rated dancers?

Honestly, anyone who is not a “famous” dancer. Every single dancer I have ever watched, regardless of the level they were at, had something special and unique about their dancing. Every dancer is accomplished just in the fact that they get up on stage and compete or perform. Every dancer faces obstacles and continues to go back, not letting their “failures” kick them and keep them down. Every dancer, including the “famous” ones, has an inspiring story if you are willing to listen.
